Investing in the words of Benjamin Graham the father of value investing, is most intelligent when it is businesslike. This makes intuitive sense to most people but it does not explain why many so called investment analysts were recommending dot com and technology stocks with stratospheric valuations to investors during the tech bubble of the late nineties. It is also puzzling and confounds logic and plain common sense when perfectly capable and sane businessmen and women fell for this siren song and paid cold hard cash hand over fist for the overpriced profitless wonders.
It is with these cautionary tales in mind that this website has been designed to express views and thoughts which may at first appear outlandish and counterintuitive, but which on the other hand could serve as a counterpoint to conventional wisdom in the financial markets. At the very least it is hoped that it could make people stop and take another look at the proverbial pots of gold which always appear to be in abundance in rampaging bull markets. As you may recall from various instances of market history the gold in those pots always have a nasty habit of turning into lead or worse as soon as you are about to touch them. Furthermore the markets also have a strange way of hiding the gold in the most unusual of places which most analysts bless their souls never seem to tell us about until it is too late and all there is left is fools gold.
